On Tuesday, YouTube unveiled its latest update that addresses the inconvenience faced by users who opt to deactivate their watch history. This new update will disable all video recommendations, a feature that has been a common sight on users’ home feeds, influenced by their viewing habits. With the implementation of this update, individuals can now switch off their watch history and enjoy a more organized and less chaotic homepage. The revamped homepage will consist of only the search bar and the left-hand guide menu, offering shortcuts to Subscriptions, Shorts, and Library.
Google stated, “We are introducing this fresh experience to clarify which YouTube functionalities rely on watch history to generate video recommendations and to streamline the interface for users who prefer searching over browsing recommendations.” These modifications will gradually roll out to users within the coming months.
Separately, YouTube is grappling with reports from iOS users who are facing buffering problems while watching live content on YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels. YouTube acknowledged the issue and expressed its commitment to resolving it. However, as of now, there is no update on whether the problem has been resolved.
Affected users noted that the content consistently freezes on their iOS devices, encompassing both iPhones and iPads. Interestingly, this buffering issue does not appear to affect viewers using Android devices, televisions, or other platforms to watch the same content.
