Snapchat has joined other tech giant to embrace the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), by lunching its own chatbot with a ChatGPT-powered called “My AI”.
The social media platform announced on Monday that it has launched a new chatbot feature that runs on the latest version of the popular OpenAI’s GPT technology, and it is customized specifically for Snapchat.
Some of the feature that is incorporated into the chatbot will enable it to recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-obsessed pal.
Other striking feature of the snapchat AI chatbot is that it allows users to customize it wallpaper and also a name can be given to it.
However, Snapchat has issued a warning that just like any AI chatbot, Its AI is prone to hallucinations and can be tricked into saying just about anything and also may have many deficiencies. Owning to this, Snapchat also issued an apology in advance to users about this deficiencies and many are wondering why the rush in releasing the chatbot if it not yet efficient.
Although Snapchat urges users not to ‘share any secrets with My AI’ as all their conversations will be stored and ‘may be reviewed to improve the product experience’.
The Snapchat AI is designed to avoid biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading information. More so, mistakes may occur, but there is a provision put in place to help user give feedback on any problematic answers by the chatbot and to do that, users can press and hold on any message.
In other news, META formerly known as Facebook, announced that it is experimenting with AI-powered chat on WhatsApp and Messenger.
