Alleged leaks of iPhone 15 Pro cases have emerged, showcasing a number of differences between the upcoming device and its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro. Apple is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 15 series later this year, and these leaked case designs align with rumored hardware modifications.
The leaked images of the supposed iPhone 15 Pro cases originated from Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, and were shared via AppleInsider. A comparison is made between an iPhone 15 Pro case and a current iPhone 14 Pro case, revealing several design variances, albeit minor ones.
One notable change is seen in the cutout for the mute switch on one of the iPhone 15 Pro cases. It displays significant alterations, featuring a smaller element that resembles more of a mute button. Speculation suggests that Apple may introduce a capacitive key to replace the current mechanical sliding switch, similar to the iPhone 7 and 8’s home button transformation from a physical button to a capacitive one. If this change is indeed implemented (although some have raised doubts), it follows that a smaller cutout would be required. There are also rumors circulating that Apple might rename the mute switch as the “Action” button, aligning it with the corresponding button on the Apple Watch Ultra.
Furthermore, the bottom of the iPhone 15 Pro seems to feature a larger connector cutout. This adjustment is likely a response to the anticipated adoption of USB-C by Apple for the iPhone, in compliance with EU regulations.
Additional minor changes include larger cutouts for the camera and microphone, as well as slight repositioning of the power and volume buttons.
What to expect from the iPhone 15 Pro
The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro is anticipated to be a gradual upgrade compared to the iPhone 14 Pro. Apple plans to enhance the processor in its new Pro model, transitioning from the A16 chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro to the A17 chip. Similarly, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will receive a chip upgrade, moving from the A15 to the A16.
Beyond the chip improvements, the entire iPhone 15 series is rumored to adopt USB-C charging. This alteration is driven by EU regulations. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro is said to introduce a periscope zoom lens, similar to the one featured in the Google Pixel 7 Pro. This would mark the first time an iPhone incorporates such technology since the introduction of the triple rear camera system in the iPhone 11 Pro in 2019.
