Hello all,

I will like to know if the society of Radiographers (SOR) membership for students is free?

Joining SOR as a student is free, especially if you are a first year student. However membership for old students is just the cost of coffe, it won't cost you a bean, and it’s very easy to join.

Furthermore, if you are studying at one of the following institutions, your membership is actually free for the entirety of your course:

1. Bangor University

2. Cardiff University

3. De Montfort University

4. Keele University

5. Sheffield Hallam University

6. St George's, University of London

7. University of Bradford

Benefits of SOR membership as a student

  • 1. Opportunities to lead by being a Student Forum Rep, Student Council Observer, Equalise member or joining the SoR Ambassadors Programme
  • 2. Access to our downloadable policy and professional guidance document library
  • 3. Access to professional magazines, specialist journals (including the international Radiography Journal) and monthly ezines
  • 4. Dedicated expert support, help and advice
  • 5. Access to a range of bursaries, research grants, awards and prizes
  • 6. Reflective learning opportunities via an exciting programme of conferences, events, webinars, podcasts and recorded lectures covering educational, professional, equality and wellbeing topics
  • 7. Free CPD Now tool to help you build your CPD portfolio
  • 8. Opportunities to join special interest groups (SIGs), advisory groups and editorial boards to expand your knowledge, contribute and influence the direction of the profession
  • 9.  Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) for Student Clinical Placements (conditions apply)
  • 10. Access to the benevolent fund
