Bitrue crypto exchange based in Singapore took to their website to announced that their system has been hack and
exploited by hackers. This was notice on the 14 of April, in which the hackers were able to withdraw assets
worth approximately 23 million USD in the following currencies: ETH, QNT, GALA, SHIB, HOT, and MATIC.
According the Bitrue crypto exchange team “We have identified a brief exploit in one of our hot wallets on 07:18 (UTC), 14 April 2023. We were able to address this matter quickly and prevented the further exploit of funds. We take this matter seriously and are currently investigating the situation.”
They also stated that, the affected hot wallet only contained less than 5% of Bitrue’s overall funds. The rest of our wallets continue to remain secure and have not been compromised.
And as a result of the hack, the Bitrue crypto exchange will be suspending withdrawals temporarily, for several days as they investigated the incident. Investigation into the hack is on, however Bitrue has not given details on how the investigation will be done. It is expected that Bitrue will reopen withdrawals on 18 April 2023 and also hope to compensate those affected in this hack.
